‘‘Sportsafe UK raise the curtain and provide seamless service for Stratford Park Leisure Centre!’
Stratford Park Leisure Centre is situated in the delightful setting of a park on its namesake in the Cotswold town of Stroud.
The centre is operated on behalf of Stroud District Council by Management Contractor Parkwood Leisure as one of their 80 plus leisure sites across the UK, the preferred sports service providers to the group were contracted back in the March by Deputy Manager Kieran Sinton.
The centre comprising an eight badminton court hall was built on the 70s and most of the ceiling to the floor divisional nets and ‘theater curtains’ had been in the place since the opening day. Stroud District Council had budgeted for the complete replacement of all the nets and curtains for 2010 and Kieron Sinton from Parkwood was tasked with finding competitive quotes from appropriate suppliers. ‘Due to the scope and budget cost for the refurbishment we were required three formal quotations. It was at this point I contacted Sportsafe Uk on recommendation from our General Manager, Chris Stanbrook who had previous experience of their quality delivery and installation services.
On contacting their head office in Colchester, due to the complexity of the project, I was immediately directed to Managing Director Jon Neill who was most interested to understand the detail of the project. As we based in the Cotswolds Jon felt that a site visit would be preferable to further consider the scope of the works and directed me to Leisure ‘Field’ Sales Director Chris Vacher.I was very impressed how prompt Sportsafe UK were in contacting me and within a few days Chris Vacher was on the site making detailed assessment and technical survey of the works.
The refurbishment scheme also included provision of a new replacement ‘net tracking’ on the ceiling which stands at around 8 meters in height.
Following the visit by Chris a ‘specification of works’ with quotation was on my desk within a few days. We had to refer all 3 quotations to the Stroud District Council as they were funding the scheme. As all the prices were extremely competitive the decision was referred back to Chris and i on the site to make the final decision. We had no hesitation in nominating Sportsafe UK to execute the works and 5 days in August were scheduled for the removal of the old nets and installation of new with the tracking.
The installation was carried out very efficiently by their experienced ‘in house engineers’ and supervised on site by Sportsafe Management. The installation went according to plan and we did not need concern ourselves with any ‘disposal issue’ or height working regulation as Sportsafe provided their own scaffold towers and took all our ‘old netting’ away with them.
We now have a very bright and neat looking sports hall with dark blue netting contrasting the new blue canvas. Our costumers have been most complimentary about our ‘new look’ hall and spend less time collecting stray shuttles and balls! We spend less time on ‘setting up’ and ‘breaking down’ as the nets move smoothly and swiftly on the new runners and are less prone to tearing due to the careful lanyarding (the net is suspended directly from the track trolleys on numerousvertical cords supporting the lower canvas weight) carried out by Sportsafe UK during installation.
In summary we are very pleased with our new nets and screens and ‘concept to completion package” and would be pleased to recommend Sportsafe UK any further projects.’
