Sportsafe have been sponsoring sports activities that help young people become fit, active and enjoy competition.

What happens when you give the right support to the next generation? We certainly found out in 2012 when Great Britain stormed up the Olympic medal table, taking 29 golds and leaving the likes of Russia, South Korea, Germany and France trailing in their wake.

Our athletes succeeded because they had access to the right support and facilities as they developed their talents. But just as importantly, many thousands of other children had the support that encouraged them to develop a love for sport, keep fit and healthy, enjoy competition and develop interests and enthusiasms they otherwise may not have.

Working with local authorities to ignite the spark in the next generation.

Sportsafe has worked to ignite that spark in the next generation and believes that every young person should have access to sporting activities in safe, stimulating and educational environments.

We also get involved in local communities across the UK to give help and equipment to some of those who are most in need.

Our projects to support the next generation include:

Sponsoring rising Welsh basketball international Jacob Lloyd.

We supported Jacob’s Olympic training to help him prepare for 2016. His achievements to date include captaining the Welsh Under 16 side at the European Championships in Andorra in 2012, as well as being part of the gold-medal winning Under 18 side. Jacob is currently playing Division 1 National League basketball for Hemel Storm.

Created a new basketball league for young people in Colchester.

We paid for a coach to go to local schools and recruit teams for the new league, as well as providing equipment, clothing, balls and other items for a state-of-the-art basketball facility at Thomas Lord Audley School. Two hundred young people aged 11-12 are now playing in the league Friday night and, over coming years, we will expand the league to include teams for players aged 11-18.

Supplied and installed indoor cricket facilities at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy.

We donated and installed cricket netting using specialist bracketing and trackways at this community school on the south coast. It has a four-bay cricket facility for indoor and winter training.

Sponsored Lochaber Rugby Club’s inter-school Tag Rugby Competition.

Over 270 young people competed in this event, which took place in May 2016.

Donated a trampoline to the Stepping Stones Play and Learn Group.

This benefited children at the Colchester nursery, which brings together children with and without special needs.

Made a donation to Colchester Gladiators American Football Club to buy new equipment.

These are just some of the ways we are supporting the next generation across the UK. We’re planning to support many more projects that will help young people become fit, active, enjoy competition and represent their schools, regions, and countries in many different sports.
